How to Sell Items at Auction

From Submission to Settlement
SUBMIT

Send us photos and a brief description of your piece. Our specialists review every submission and respond within 5 business days with a free initial valuation and recommendation.

AGREE
If you decide to proceed, we send you a simple consignment agreement outlining the lot description, estimate, reserve price, commission and auction date. No obligation until you sign.
AUCTION

Your lot goes live in our online catalog approximately two weeks before the auction date. On auction day, registered bidders from around the world compete for your piece in real time.

SETTLE

Once the buyer pays, we process your settlement within 30-35 days. You receive the hammer price minus our 10% seller’s commission — clear, simple and transparent.

TRANSPARENT PRICING

Simple, Honest Commission

At HeritageBids, our fee structure is straightforward. There are no listing fees, no photography fees, no marketing fees and no hidden charges. We succeed when you succeed.

Our seller’s commission is 10% of the hammer price, deducted at settlement. Buyers pay an additional 15% buyer’s premium directly to HeritageBids, this is separate from your commission and does not affect your net proceeds.

For high-value consignments or collections of multiple lots, we are happy to discuss tailored commission arrangements. Contact us to start the conversation.

Example settlement: Hammer price: $5,000 Seller commission (10%): -$500 Net to you: $4,500

The buyer separately pays $750 in buyer’s premium, bringing their total to $5,750. Your net is always calculated on the hammer price alone.
